Scholarships for 2009

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Senior/Middle School (Years 7 - 12)

Description
Academic Scholarships are offered for students entering Years 7 to 12, 2009, who demonstrate outstanding Academic achievement.

Academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of examination success .

Academic scholarships are reviewable annually and are subject to continued high performance. Scholarships awarded to candidates entering Year 7 are tenable for three years; candidates entering Year 10 are tenable for three years.

Notes
The Scholarship conditions will be explained at the interview and outlined in a letter of offer to the family. Written acceptance of the offer is required.

The scholarship winners will be supported by a mentor (staff member), who shall ensure that on the one hand the student is performing to his or her potential, but is also not feeling threatened by the pressure to perform. Poor performance can result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.

Eligibility
Students between the ages of 9 and 17, enrolled in Years 6 to 11 in 2008

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

Senior/Middle School (Years 7 - 12)

Description
Music Scholarships are offered for students entering Years 7 to 12, 2009, who demonstrate outstanding Music achievement.
 
Music scholarships awarded on the basis of audition.

The School has set minimum levels of previous achievements on AMEB or Trinity College examinations or equivalent for audition. 
Further to our usual music scholarships, as we will be establishing a Pipe Band, a Bag Piper with appropriate levels of experience, qualifications and talent is sought through this scholarship program.

NB: Applications that do not come accompanied by the above formal qualifications are accepted. However, the decision to interview and audition the applicant will be based on the applicants relevant experience and supporting documentation.

After application selected students will be invited to audition at a time to be advised.

GENERAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

Senior/Middle School (Years 7 - 12)

Description
Sunshine Coast Grammar School offers a limited number of General Excellence Scholarships in 2009. 
Applicants must demonstrate significant academic ability together with demonstrated capacity for leadership and community service. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate significant achievement in any one, but preferably two, of the following areas:
  • public speaking
  • visual arts
  • performing arts
  • music
  • sport

General Excellence Scholarships are reviewable annually and are subject to continued high performance.

Notes
Submissions must include:

  • a completed application (on-line)
  • supporting documentation for the applicant's areas of excellence including levels of achievement, eg Regional, State or National for sport, or the equivalent level of participation or competition for creative arts, music and public speaking
  • send to the School a copy of the applicant’s most recent school report plus results in State or National testing where applicable and any relevant certificates to support the application eg AMEB, Trinity, UNSW Mathematics/Science/English etc.
  • send to the School  two references relevant to the area(s) of excellence
