Pre Prep 3 (PP3) is designed specifically for 4 to 6 year olds. It is perfect for children who have already spent 6-12 months in Pre-Prep 1. Our curriculum and learning outcomes are based upon the ‘Early Years’ curriculum, which is the basis of Prep programs in Queensland schools.
Our program includes:
- Daily numeracy sessions
- Daily literacy sessions
- Weekly Music lessons with Miss Annie from Sunshine Coast Grammar School
- Sporty Tots
- Weekly Library visits
- Rostered computer time for every child
Children in PP2 will be refining skills learnt in their first Pre Prep year and extending upon this knowledge while focussing on independence, decision-making and self guided learning as a tool for life long learning. Upon graduation from Pre-Prep 2, it is expected that the students will be ready to commence Prep and well on their way to achieving the following:
Socially and Emotionally:
- Peer negotiation with minimal adult guidance
- Strengthened long term relationships with peers
- Confidence in expressing themselves verbally and emotionally in a group setting and with adults
- Continuing to develop a healthy self esteem
- Independence
Physically:
- Developing eye hand co-ordination
- Developing a hand preference and strengthening pencil grasp
- Strengthening fine and gross motor skills
- Making healthy food choices
Literacy and Numeracy:
- Recognition and modelling of all Letterland characters
- Writing their first name and beginning to write surname
- Being exposed to a variety of books and text through our weekly library visits
- Participation in classroom storytelling and Show & Tell
- Discriminating size, shape and colour
- Matching and sorting
- Recognising numbers 0-20
Technology:
- Developing basic computer skills
