Karen Randall - Head of Information Services

Karen RandallHi I am Karen Randall and currently the Head of Information Services. I began my career as a Secondary Commerce/Business Teacher in 1982. My first transfer was to Mackay State High School.

Being a Brisbane girl, born and bred, the North Queensland experience was a distinct change. However, I soon settled in, adapting to the pace of life, the high humidity and the rain. I also became involved in sailing (the cruising kind) to the islands and around the Whitsunday's.

I continued to work at Mackay State High School until 1999. During that time my role varied from Commerce Teacher to Acting Subject Master Commerce, Year 8 Co-ordinator and Teacher Librarian completing a Degree in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Teacher Librarianship along the way.

Our move to the Sunshine Coast in 2000 could be described not so much as a sea change but a mid life change. Being closer to Brisbane has allowed us to persue our travel and cultural interests as well as closer contact with our family and friends.

At the beginning of 2006 Sunshine Coast Grammar School very proudly opened a new Secondary Resource Centre. My role as Head of Information Services has been filled with many challenges, decisions and the exciting prospect of making our Resource Centre a well loved, used and enjoyable place to study, research, read and share ideas.

With the plethora of information available to us, its exponential growth coupled with the need to interact with this information, it is vitally important that our students be given the opportunities to develop, enhance and be equipped with the skills they need in this information age. I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that the information age brings with it and sharing my passion with students and staff.
