Lawson House

Lawson house is one of four houses at Sunshine Coast Grammar School named after famous Australians: Bradman, Sturt, Chisholm and Lawson.
We are named after Henry Lawson (1867 – 1922), the famous Australian poet and story writer. Much of his inspiration came from the Australian bush, and its people. Because he'd known the hardships of bush life Henry Lawson could understand its ways. He wrote about mateship and the rewards of hardwork, honesty and teamwork.
Lawson House Philosophy
In Lawson our motto is “proud of who we are”. As such, we aim for students to develop a real pride in their house and in their school. More than this, we expect students to conduct themselves in such a way that both staff and parents can be proud of their efforts.
Most of all, we want students to be proud of themselves and proud of their efforts here at Sunshine Coast Grammar School. We have very high expectations of students in regards participation and effort. All we ever ask of students is that they consistently give their best.
Lawson Hawks
In Lawson our mascot is the Hawk and our colour is Maroon.
For sporting events and carnivals you will most likely see “Henry the Hawk” dressed proudly in his colours or you may have the opportunity to dance proudly to our bird dance music.
The Lawson Hawks have established a strong reputation at the Sunshine Coast Grammar School. We have won our share of inter-house events, but the Hawks take greatest pride from the way they participate and conduct themselves.
