Connect with Grammar

Water polo

Water Polo has been a sport at Grammar since 2002. It provides students with the unique opportunity to play a team based sport in an aquatic environment. As such, it is an excellent fitness based sport with its own unique sets of skills. Games ae played over four, seven minute quarters. Representative pathways are available for talented players. Former Grammar Alumni, Billy Miller has represented Australia at the London Olympics.

The school competes in the Sunshine Coast Schools Monday Night Water Polo competition which traditionally runs from mid Term 3, culminating in Term 4. Games are played at three venues: Kawana Aquatic Centre, Noosa Aquatic Centre, and Nambour Aquatic Centre with game times varying dependent upon division, from 4.00pm to 7.30pm.

Occurs on Monday mornings at Kawana Aquatic Centre.

The Sunshine Coast Schools’ Monday Night Competition caters for both boys and girls in 6 divisions: Junior Girls and Boys (Years 7-8); Intermediate Girls and Boys (Years 9-10); and Open Boys and Girls (Years 11-12).  Schools can nominate teams into each of these divisions, in either A or B grade. There is a division to suit the experience level of any player, novice to expert.

Recent Successes:

Grammar has had a proud tradition in the sport, being previous holders of the Open Boys A division trophy. Grammar is always well represented in these finals.
