Young Alumnus embracing opportunity and success

Have you ever met someone with incredible motivation, academic talent and a great personality and come away thinking: that person could do anything! Meet Sunshine Coast Grammar School Alumnus Elena Pleass, a young lady who is an inspiration to all who meet her.
Elena moved to the Sunshine Coast from Fiji with her family and commenced at Grammar in 2007. Her journey at Grammar is one that many parents aspire to for their child. During her time at Grammar Elena, discovered a passion for Finance and Economics as well as a love for travel. Appointed School Captain in 2013, Ellena was also recognised for her outstanding Community Service during her time at Grammar.
Offered one of only twenty-Five Tuckwell Scholarships at Australian National University in Canberra, Elena has been studying a double degree in Economics and Finance for the past three years. Receiving a Tuckwell Scholarship is about embracing your desire and determination to use your natural abilities to realise your full potential so that you can make a real difference in the world.
Elena describes her university experience as extremely rich and diverse with opportunities that she could only imagine existed. Completing two internships over the past 12 months at JP Morgan, one of the few global banking and finance organisations with arms in Australia. JP Morgan are represented in seventeen countries across the Asia Pacific region as a global leader in financial services, offering solutions to some of the world’s most important corporations, governments and institutions.
Elena is now in her final year at ANU and has already been offered a permanent position within JP Morgan in Melbourne once she completes her degree later this year.
Head of Secondary School at Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Mr Mel Holland noted, “Many of our alumni have gone on to achieve great things after graduating, transitioning across numerous career paths, and we thoroughly enjoy when they visit. It is rewarding and inspiring to see how they have grown and the wonderful opportunities they have pursued. Elena’s sights are set on working overseas in Investment Banking or Funds Management, and JP Morgan has capacity to enable this to become a reality.
