Community rallies to support Supa Sal

Date: November 19, 2018    Posted by: Megan Meineke

Community spirit was high yesterday, November 18 as Sunshine Coast Grammar school staff, friends and supporters pulled together to help raise $20,000 at the Green Zebra Restaurant on Kawana Island over the course of the afternoon for much-loved friend and colleague, Sally Bradley as part of the Supa Sal Sunday Soiree fundraiser.

A long-time Primary Teacher Assistant at Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Sally suffered a debilitating stoke on Tuesday, 9 October. Since then Sally and her 17-year-old son, Dylan have received unwavering support from the school community.

While Sally’s condition is improving every day, the road to recovery will take time as doctors continue to assess her progress and provide for her recovery.

Friend and Sunshine Coast Grammar School Colleague, Sue Glover says the love and support shown at the lunch was a true reflection of Sally’s kind and fun-loving spirit.

“Sally would have been absolutely blown away by the generosity and support received by those in the community willing to dig deep and help support her recovery,” said Sue.

“Known for her bubbly personality and willingness to help others, Sally had made a positive impact on so many families around her and it really is no surprise that the community were ready to jump at the opportunity to help her at a time when she needs it most.”

The first of a number of planned fundraisers, the lunch has been heralded a success and event organisers thank the community for their support.

A gofundme page has also been set up for Sally to aide in her recovery https://www.gofundme.com/supa-sal?fbclid=IwAR3WYR1Nb7N4q9WflGXHaydIcKF4KNpxwuRBWryO0FOSMUVg11VvdUbMoxU
