The keys to the highly anticipated Sunshine Coast Grammar School Aquatic Centre were officially handed over today Friday, November 10, signifying the completion of the School’s largest capital works project to date, a fitting commemoration of their 21st birthday festivities this year.
In celebration of this significant milestone, Grammar ‘lifelong learners’ – Year 12 students who have been at the school since Prep – were the first to take the plunge.
Developed on an impressive 1 hectare site, this world-class facility houses the only FINA certified 50m school pool on the Sunshine Coast allowing students the opportunity to train and compete at an international standard.
Principal at Sunshine Coast Grammar School says that the centre will extend on the substantial sporting and educational opportunities available to the Grammar community and the Sunshine Coast region.
“I am thrilled to see this project come to life. This impressive facility will provide a range of elite curricular, co-curricular and other commercial opportunities for the Sunshine Coast,” said Mrs Woods
The new facility also includes an enclosed 15 metre learn to swim pool, a 700 seat undercover grandstand, gymnasium, tennis centre, classrooms, change rooms and a kiosk.
“The planning of this project has been years in the making and our school community is truly excited to finally see this dream become a reality,” said Mrs Woods.
“I am delighted to take hand over of this impressive facility and to be able share this milestone with our community.”
