At Sunshine Coast Grammar School, success in sport is measured by more than medals, elite level selections and the pursuit of excellence on a global stage. We believe in the power of sport to transform lives and create happy, balanced and skilled young individuals who contribute positively to our school and the broader community. Our sport programs support athletic development, build friendships and create lasting memories. They are grounded in integrity and instill core values such as team work, commitment, discipline, sportsmanship and resilience.
Led by experienced and passionate staff and delivered in our world-class facilities, we offer a range of enjoyable and engaging programs that extend from our youngest to oldest participants. Our programs cater to students of all skill levels, from beginners to high-performance athletes and we are proud to collaborate with State and National Sporting Organisations to provide formal performance pathways for our students to represent their state and country. Students can participate in a range of activities, from team to individual sports, each offering their own unique challenge and opportunity to grow.
Primary Sport
All primary students (P-6) participate in curriculum time sport. Our primary school sports program emphasises personal and physical development through a variety of age-appropriate individual and team sports, developing foundation movement and wide-ranging skills whilst fostering growth and teamwork in a supportive environment. All students in Years 4-6 take part in the Gala Sports Program, where they can choose two sports per year to train in and represent Grammar against the other Sunshine Coast Independent School’s in organised competition.
Throughout the year, primary students can also represent Grammar in additional school and club competitions, as well as to pursue representative opportunities through the Queensland Representative School Sport Pathways.
Secondary Sport
All secondary students have the chance to represent Grammar in organised sport. Our secondary school sports program complements the primary sports program by offering opportunities for both participation and high performance across a range of sports and competitions. Our programs inspire and ignite a passion for sport and lifelong physical activity and a chance to build friendships and develop core values and skills that can be transferred into the classroom and life in general.
Throughout the year, secondary students can represent Grammar in Sunshine Coast Independent School and Sunshine Coast School’s competitions and Sunshine Coast club competitions. Training sessions are delivered before and after school and the majority of matches place Monday to Friday after school, with club sporting played on Saturday’s.
