Two Sunshine Coast Grammar students have earned national honours in surf and pool lifesaving, representing Australia on the international stage.

Year 11 student Indi Bland has been selected for the Australian Youth Lifesaving Team to compete in the Battle of the Tasman on the Gold Coast this month. As one of just six female athletes chosen, Indi will join the team on Wednesday, 27 August for this prestigious trans-Tasman event.

Indi’s selection is the result of years of dedication to surf lifesaving, beginning with green caps at age six. Over the past eight years, she has represented numerous state and district teams and recently competed in Adelaide, where she was selected to represent Australia at the New Zealand Pool Championships next month.

“I’m incredibly proud to represent my country. Surf lifesaving has been a huge part of my life and I’m grateful for the support of my club, coaches and school,” said Indi.

Year 10 student Reagan Copsey also made her mark internationally recently, representing Australia at the 2025 Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships in Swansea, Wales in July. Reagan was selected for the Australian Royal Lifesaving Youth Team and her debut campaign was a resounding success, winning individual gold in the 200m Obstacle Race and contributing to two gold medals in relays. The Australian Development Team narrowly missed the overall title, finishing just behind England.

Regan’s journey also began at Nippers from age six, and her love of swimming grew, where she continues to compete for both the Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club and Sunshine Coast Grammar Swimming Club.

“Competing in Wales was an incredible experience and I’m proud to have contributed to our team’s success,” said Reagan.

Their achievements reflect years of dedication and we are incredibly proud to celebrate their achievements, passion and perseverance they bring to their sport.

Both students are integral members of our Grammar Pool Lifesaving Club, where they continue to train and inspire their peers through their commitment and sportsmanship.
