Sunshine Coast Grammar School proudly celebrates the achievements of five student-athletes and one teacher who represented Australia at the 2025 World Triathlon Championships in Wollongong from 15–19 October.

Competing against elite athletes from around the world, our Grammar representatives demonstrated resilience, determination and sportsmanship across a range of events, with four athletes finishing in the top 10 and one athlete in the top 20.

Grace Brimelow (Year 12) continued her remarkable para-triathlon journey, claiming silver in the Women’s PTS5 Para event. Grace’s podium finish adds to her growing list of international accolades, including five international titles and her appearance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

In the fiercely contested Men’s Junior 16–19 years Sprint, Will Kisby (Year 10) delivered an outstanding performance, finishing fourth overall and first in the Age-Group Mixed Relay. Will’s result builds on his second-place finish at the 2024 Queensland All Schools’ Triathlon and confirms his place among Australia’s top junior athletes.

Jude Brimelow (Year 10) also excelled against the elite field in the same event, placing 7th and eighth in the Age-Group Mixed Relay. Jude continues his strong growth in the sport after earning Queensland selection earlier this year following his standout performance at the State Championships.

Addison Houslip (Year 10), one of the youngest athletes in the Women’s Junior 16–19 years Championship, placed 16th and was the first Australian to cross the finish line. Addison has gained valuable experience on the world stage and further cemented her reputation as a rising star in Australian triathlon. This outcome adds to Addison’s impressive results, which include three national titles as well as first place at the European Triathlon Junior Cup in Tiszaujvaros, second place at the European Triathlon Junior Cup in Holten and fifth in the U23 Oceania Sprint Championships.

Maureen Cummings, long-serving PE teacher and Sunshine Coast Triathlon Academy coach, proudly carried the Australian flag at the Parade of Nations and went on to place 4th in the Women’s 60–64 years Aquabike. This event marked her tenth appearance on the Australian Age Group Team, which is a testament to her passion and leadership in the sport.

Drawing on her experience representing Australia at the 2023 Youth Commonwealth Games, Hannah Pollock (Year 12) was named as a Reserve in the Australian Junior Team. Although Hannah did not compete, she remained a valued member of the squad, supporting her teammates throughout the Championships.

We congratulate all our athletes on their exceptional efforts and representation of Sunshine Coast Grammar and Australia. Their dedication, courage and sportsmanship continue to inspire our school community.
