Sunshine Coast Grammar School proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of its students and leadership following the 2026 Sunshine Coast Biosphere Awards.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of student Taylor Ladd-Hudson (Year 12), who was awarded the prestigious Rising Biosphere Star Award for her inspiring work in ocean education and conservation.
Taylor is a passionate young changemaker dedicated to promoting “shark smart” awareness and transforming community perceptions through education, advocacy and hands-on conservation.
Taylor commented on how inspiring it is to help empower young people to replace fear with understanding and make a difference. “It’s wonderful to be able to build on their skillset and provide them with the knowledge to become shark smart. A drop becomes a ripple, a ripple becomes a wave and waves do change tides,” she said at the Biosphere Awards.
Her impact is already extending beyond the local community, with Taylor invited to speak in Queensland Parliament on humane shark management—demonstrating the powerful influence of youth-led environmental advocacy.
The School also proudly acknowledges Nate Nelson (Year 7), who was named a finalist in theRising Biosphere Star category. As an Ambassador for STEPS Pathways College, Nate is committed to advancing inclusive education through fundraising, advocacy and volunteer work.
Further recognition was given to Sunshine Coast Grammar School, named a finalist in the Biosphere Business Award category for its People, Planet and Progress program. The initiative embeds the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across the School’s curriculum, operations and community, reflecting a deep and ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible global citizenship.
Adding to the evening’s significance, Sunshine Coast Grammar School’s Principal, Mrs Anna Owen, served as Master of Ceremonies for the awards, delivering an exceptional and engaging program that celebrated the region’s environmental leadership and innovation.
Sunshine Coast Grammar School congratulates Taylor, Nate, Mrs Owen and all involved in this year’s Biosphere Awards, recognising their contributions to building a more sustainable and inclusive future.
