Sunshine Coast Grammar School’s Tennis Program has been crowned Tennis Queensland’s most outstanding school and winner of the Coaching Excellence Award for 2022.
The Awards were announced at the ceremony on Wednesday evening, 26 October 2022 at Queensland Parliament House
Tennis Director and Head Coach of Grammar’s Tennis Program, Mr Clint Fyfe has been awarded the Coaching Excellence Development Award for his dedication and active engagement in professional development opportunities.
Mr Fyfe was recently selected for the inaugural Performance Coach USA Tour of Florida with Tennis Australia.
‘It was a great learning opportunity for me and I am excited to apply my new skills to the Grammar Tennis Program,’ said Mr Fyfe.
Mr Fyfe coordinates an extensive tennis program, including the Grammar Tennis School of Excellence, school competitions, HPE Curriculum Tennis, Holiday Camps, Hot Shots, and many other competitions.
Mr Fyfe has seen outstanding results with his performance athletes across state, national and international level events, with many gaining selection in their respective teams.
‘Our goal is to develop and inspire young tennis players to achieve their personal best,’ said Mr Fyfe.
Established four years ago, Grammar’s Tennis Program has shown an outstanding commitment to tennis and established itself as one of the leading tennis programs in the country.
Tennis is entrenched throughout the Sunshine Coast Grammar School with over 250 players currently enrolled in regular tennis programs. With the support of the Principal and staff, the School has an extensive tennis program, running lessons before, after, and during lunch times, with players supported as much as they need.
The School’s Tennis Program actively enters teams into local and state-based competitions and has seen great results from their students with many gaining selection in regional and state teams.
Most recently, the Tennis Program has seen Grammar students and Queensland’s top two under-thirteen tennis players, Connor McEvoy and Aiden Serifovic compete in the U13 National Boys Tennis camp, with Connor also competing in the European Tour with Tennis Australia. Grammar’s open boys and girls teams also placed fourth overall at the Tennis Queensland State Finals recently.
‘Seeing so many Grammar students enjoy playing tennis is a highlight for me. Whether it is competing in Grammar’s Coloured Ball Series, Tennis Queensland Primary School Cups or Secondary School State and National Tournaments,’ said Mr Fyfe.
