Sunshine Coast Grammar student selected as AFLW All-Australian Vice-Captain

Rising AFL star and Year 11 Sunshine Coast Grammar School student, Molly Ferguson has garnered attention for her exceptional talent on the AFL field having been selected as the Under 16 Girls All-Australian Vice-Captain at the National Development Championships.

Molly was one of three Queensland athletes selected for the prestigious Brisbane Lions Academy and her on-field performance at the National Development Championships saw her clinch the best and fairest award, which is a testament to her performance and sportsmanship on the national stage.

This remarkable achievement reflects Molly’s talent and highlights her commitment to pursuing her dreams of reaching AFLW.

“My journey in AFL has been incredibly rewarding so far and being Vice-Captain is an honour,” says Molly.

As Molly continues to set her sights on the AFLW, she is taking advantage of opportunities to improve her skills and knowledge of the game.

“I have been playing with the under-18 squad recently, which is a great experience for me to learn from older players,” says Molly.

Determined and hard-working in the classroom as well as on the field, Molly is a well-respected member of Sunshine Coast Grammar’s AFL team and the school’s sports performance program, Roar Performance.

“The whole team walks taller when Molly is on the field. She is a great role model for our younger students,” says Mr Nick Dutton, Teacher in Charge of AFL.

Molly serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the school, proving that with determination and dedication, dreams can become a reality.

Sunshine Coast Grammar School is proud to acknowledge Molly’s achievements and is looking forward to continuing to support Molly as she aspires to achieve her goals.
