Sunshine Coast school student hits the international tennis tour

Sunshine Coast Grammar School student and current number one Queensland under 13 tennis champion, Connor McEvoy has been selected to play for the Australian Team and will travel with Tennis Australia to compete in the European Tour in July.

Connor is one of four athletes selected for the Under 13 Australian Team and will compete in three events across Germany and Luxemburg throughout July and August.

“I am really looking forward to the challenge and playing at an international level with strong junior players”, said Connor.

Before going on his international tour, Connor will represent Queensland in the Under 13 State Team at the National Championships at the Gold Coast in June. Connor is one of three players selected to represent the State in his age group.

The star athlete is a top performer on State tours having represented Queensland for the past six years. Connor’s continual selections are a reward for his results, performances and hard work displayed throughout the year.

Connor is a fierce competitor and active member of Sunshine Coast Grammar Tennis Academy and continually represents the Club with passion and pride.

“Connor is a great role model in our coaching program, and I can see his success inspiring our other players to follow the same path”, said Head Coach, Mr Clint Fyfe.

After picking up a racquet for the first time at five years old, Connor immediately felt at home on the court. He particularly enjoys the competitive nature and strategy of tennis and thrives under the pressure of the individual sport.

Connor’s dreams of becoming a professional tennis player and competing at the highest level are fast becoming reality and within reach for this talented athlete.

“It is a privilege to represent Australia and I am very grateful for the opportunity”, said Connor.
