Sunshine Coast Grammar School Continues Its Legacy at Regional da Vinci Decathlon

Sunshine Coast Grammar School was thrilled to host the third annual Regional da Vinci Decathlon, welcoming over 600 students from 82 teams representing 17 schools across South East Queensland.

The prestigious competition, designed to challenge higher-order thinking skills, problem-solving and creativity, featured ten disciplines, including engineering, mathematics, code-breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.

Year 5 & 6 teams competed on Wednesday, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and problem-solving skills. On Thursday, 52 teams from Years 7 to 10 brought an incredible level of academic rigor and friendly competition.

Mrs Brenda Gahan, Head of Extended Learning, reflected on the event’s success, stating, “Hosting the Regional da Vinci Decathlon is a testament to our commitment to championing regional education and fostering a culture of excellence in learning.”

Grammar students have historically performed strongly in all divisions since the event’s inception in 2022, earning placements in the State Championships and competing against some of the brightest minds in Queensland. Last year, our Year 9 team advanced to the National Finals, securing top rankings across three disciplines.

This year, a team of students from Years 5 to 11 will represent Sunshine Coast Grammar School at the State da Vinci Decathlon at Brisbane Boys’ College, continuing the school’s tradition of academic excellence.

Sunshine Coast Grammar School remains committed to supporting students in their academic and co-curricular pursuits and preparing them to be the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.
